Caribbean Island

Anguilla

The Caribbean island of Anguilla is a British overseas territory and is the northernmost of the Windward Islands. It is made up of one large island which includes the capital city of The Valley and some tiny islands and cays which are privately owned or uninhabited.

The climate is tropical but fairly dry compared to most islands because it gets northeastern trade winds. Because it is dry and the soil is mostly sandy, it is not good for crops. The main industries are fishing and boat building. It rains mostly in September and October and is a hurricane area in the summer and fall.
