One of the great tourist
destinations in the Caribbean Islands are the islands of The
Bahamas. There are over 700 islands making up the
archipelago of The Bahamas. Fourteen of the islands create a
central hub and these are the ones that are visited by
tourists.

New Providence Island is the most visited of the
islands. It is the one referred to as Nassau
because it is the capital city of The Bahamas.

The Bahamas is one of the wealthiest Caribbean
countries mainly from tourism and offshore banking
institutions. The islands are located in the North
Atlantic Ocean, southeast of Florida and northeast of
Cuba. The closest island to the United States is Bimini.
South of Bimini is Andros, the largest island.
The climate in the Bahamas is semi-tropical and
comparable to that of Florida but they are susceptible to
hurricanes.
The Bahamas is a popular island for weddings
and honeymoons. There are many activities and sports including
festivals on the islands of Andros and Eleuthera. It is the
birthplace of junkanoo, a street festival which occurs on
Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year's Day. The largest
junkanoo festival is held in the capital city of Nassau.

Bahamas.
